There are two different actions depending on what you want:
Stop future clock-ins / remove access (keep history)
Delete the staff member’s POS Time Tracker history (remove history)
This article explains both.
OPTION A (RECOMMENDED): DEACTIVATE IN SHOPIFY (KEEPS HISTORY)
Use this if you want the staff member to stop using Shopify POS, but you want to keep their past time-tracking and schedule history in POS Time Tracker.
In Shopify Admin, open your Shopify staff settings.
Deactivate the staff member or remove their POS access (depending on your Shopify setup).
Result:
They can’t clock in/out on POS (once access is removed).
Their past POS Time Tracker data remains available in reports.
OPTION B: DELETE STAFF ACTIVITY IN POS TIME TRACKER (REMOVES HISTORY)
Use this only if you want to permanently remove the staff member’s time-tracking history from POS Time Tracker.
Warning: This is irreversible. Deleting staff activity removes their clock entries, shifts, and scheduled shifts from POS Time Tracker. Reports will no longer include that staff member’s deleted history.
In POS Time Tracker (Shopify Admin), go to Staff.
Click the staff member (Staff ID).
Click "Delete Staff".
Confirm the deletion.
Result:
The staff member’s POS Time Tracker history is removed.
The staff member still exists in Shopify, but will appear as inactive in POS Time Tracker until they clock in again or you schedule them again.
The staff member no longer counts towards your subscription plan staff limit
HOW TO RE-ADD A DELETED STAFF MEMBER TO POS TIME TRACKER
If you deleted staff activity in POS Time Tracker but want them to appear as active again:
Choose one:
Option 1: Have them clock in once from Shopify POS using the POS Time Tracker tile.
Option 2: In POS Time Tracker (Shopify Admin), add them to the schedule and save/publish.
Note: Re-adding does not restore deleted history.
TROUBLESHOOTING
I don’t see the “Delete Staff” button
The staff member must be active in POS Time Tracker (they need clock activity or a scheduled shift) to open their staff detail page.
If they are inactive, have them clock in once or schedule them once, then try again.
