Creating & Editing Shifts

Learn how to create shifts or modify entries for an existing shift

Navigate to Staff Page

Adding or modifying clock entries all happen in the staff view page. To get there, follow the instructions below:

1. Open POS Time Tracker in Shopify Admin

  • Only Shopify Admin users can create or edit clock entries.

2. Go to Staff

  • In the sidebar, choose Staff to see a list of employees.

3. Pick the Staff Member

  • Click the staff member whose shift you want to add or adjust. Their Shifts table appears.

Create a Shift

  1. Click Create Shift (top-right).

  2. Location – Choose a location.

  3. Clock-in / Clock-out

    • Leave Clock-out blank for an open shift.

  4. (Optional) Add Break – Click Add Break, then set a start and end time. Repeat for multiple breaks.

  5. Click Save.

Edit a Shift

  1. In the Shifts table, click a shift’s Start time to open the editor.

  2. Update Location, Clock-in, Clock-out, or any break times.

  3. Add Break to insert more breaks, or click the trash icon to delete a break.

  4. Click Save.

Delete Shift

  1. Click the shift’s Start time to open it.

  2. Select Delete Shift (top-right) and confirm.

    • All associated breaks are removed with the shift.

  • Entries must follow chronological order: Clock-in → Break Start → Break End → Clock-out.

  • You can’t create a new shift if the employee already has an open shift (two clock-ins in a row).

  • If validation fails, review the times to ensure they don’t overlap and appear in the correct sequence.
